The yourself in you!
I feel this quite frequently. It's terrible when you don't have the chance to do that thing anymore. I wonder how I could let myself out and be what I want to be.
There doesn't exist a "Click here to change!" button that can change thyself overnight, and the sooner one realizes this, the better it is. This transition is perhaps a gradual one, or its progress can't really be felt. So the next time you feel contrary with "yourself", just try to overcome "yourself" I will try to do this!

The more you know who you are, and what you want
It's a quote from the movie "Lost in translation". The movie is a pretty good one. At least, I liked it much.
I watch English movies for two reasons. First, I need time to relax after a tiring day. So, watching movie for some time with a plate of food is one way I pick. Second, you know, I find their accent difficult to follow. I wanna improve myself somehow. Movies for resort.. :-0
Lately I experienced the real meaning of this quote in real life. Not through something I did, but with something that my friend felt. While talking on phone a few days ago, he said he was in kind of dilemma deciding on something, and that it was making him sulk a lot. I offered him some advices(I'm bad at free advices, though! ;-0 )
Then, after a few days when I met him again, he was very happy. Happy because he was out of dilemma, and that he knew what he want. I was very happy to see him that way, too.
- So, the more you know who you are and what you want, the less you let things upset you. Makes sense. Doesn't it?

Prithvi - A Kannada movie
Prithvi - A Kannada movie.
It's the story of an honest IAS officer and how he manages to fight illegal mining in the state of Bellary, Karnataka.
In one particular scene, a character laments that the border between two states(I wonder why two states can't have good co-operation while they both belong to India. We are talking about two states, and not countries :( ) is changed by local rowdies, who are supposedly great politicians and that the whole area is being exploited for illegal mining. But this officer, despite the counterparts' political and money power, manages to fight them all, and stop illegal mining.
It is a fact that the two villain characters aren't fiction.
While I keep hearing that India is corrupted, and it could never get out of this situation, it must be admitted that there is in fact a real good sign of growth, and improvement as the corrupt are being caught, and punished with imprisonment. We have been hearing, and seeing news that the bad are being caught.
To lead a state, and a country, I think there must exist a crew that works just like the Board of Directors of a private organization. People who work with diligence, and passion to make the system better. In contrary, what we now have as politicians, a majority of them, are just greedy, and corrupted and it is our misfortune.

Self-help books
He goes on with a different take on one, though, even recommending a book, which the author believes is very scientific, 59 Seconds: Think a Little, Change a Lot, written with real good intentions to help readers.
Just like many people out there, I feel some kind of fatigue that stops me from doing something useful. I believe I kicked this habit off late, and tried doing one task - building a WordPress theme - and spent around 2 months in a ok-ok manner.
Now I want to try another theme/improve the one I built, but, I keep procrastinating.. I wonder if someone really needs a self-help book to help come out of this situation? I guess not. All one needs to do is to cultivate interest in doing something. And, I'm trying.

New things
I think it is not a good idea to try to see if we have improved every now and then. It either freaks us more, or leaves us nowhere because of the fact that things are not known clearly just yet. Perhaps the best thing to do here is, just to keep doing what we are supposed to for maybe a few months.
I got this thought because I had the very same fear when I took my fist job. I hated, and feared going to office! I still had to go to office because, you know, I wanted money :) and it was inevitable. As a matter of fact there was nothing too complex out there and I realized it after working for a few months.
So, maybe, the lesson is not to fear new things!
Nothing remains as "New" forever.
(except the word "New" itself and you already know how to spell it, and write it!)

Free left turn
A guy was waiting for green signal to move on to left as it wasn't a free-left. The road this left turn joins to; wasn't that crowded, but, this guy in his nice car stopped decently. Well, nothing wrong, isn't it? He just obeyed a traffic rule after all.
Now, there were a bunch of shitheads behind this car who started honking, and two morons on a two wheeler managed to pass through the traffic, halted for a few seconds beside this car, scolded this guy for stopping, and drove away. :)
In some countries you are wrongdoer if you disobey a traffic rule(it's a fact that they don't disobey even at midnight, and it *is* absolutely sane), but, here, it seems it is the other way around.
Hopefully, we shift our gears and try to be more civilized more quickly in the coming days.
(-- I wish there are short-cuts to this too, the way we have in traffic!)

Stack Overflow
A Q&A site for programmers. You get answer to most of the common questions. betcha?
I like this site a lot, and the founder's blog :)
... the list goes on..
While I keep wondering how they get these ideas, I find yet another amazing implementation of a simple idea that eventually contributes to the whole system so beautifully.
It is so common that they mention 'we wanted to make internet a better place', one can't agree more, and maybe, that's the real motive which is making them successful. They sure are making internet a better place, and it encourages a kind of grateful feeling towards these tools, which are free or so affordable end of the day.

Cutting twine thread into half - with bare hands
A simple trick can do the job! I'm lean myself but I could cut a coir twine easily..If you wish to try, here are the steps.
(sorry about the bad English, it gets difficult to explain things in English)
1. Wind one end of the thread to your left hand thumb, as shown in the pic.
2. Now, let the rest of the thread on your palm in shape of U
3. The other end of thread(the right portion of thread that makes U shape) should go around your the palm, traveling on the dorsal hand, and come back on to palm from the bottom to get into the U shaped thread from inside.
4. Now, just pull the other end of thread downwards with your right hand, and to your magic, the thread is just cut at the lower edge of U!
Caveat: I'm not held responsible if something goes wrong( other than the thread cutting into half, though :) )!

Ghosts do not exist!
At the end of the movie, the ghost weeps that it had a wish that was never fulfilled or it says somebody did real bad things to its family, and so, it is trying to retaliate. The logic here is completely false. I mean, if an unfulfilled wish/revenge is something that makes a dead man devil, would't the world be full of devils!?If the logic really works, I bet a lot of people in Bengaluru for that matter would want to be traffic cops after they die (hopefully, the honest ones) :)
and punish
1. The idiots who honk unnecessarily
2. Who start moving much before the green is on
3. Who honk from behind while it is still counting down at 7-6 seconds
and the list goes on ..
ah I know I distracted too much. Indiscipline in driving could be irritating.
All I wanted to say is: Ghosts do not exist, at least for these reasons said in the movie!

knowing the experts
I checked it today, and I recall working with this person "Jonathan Wakely" who is cited on that page. When I started my career I was working for a bank as contractor, this person was a colleague of mine, and he was the Technical Product Owner of GCC. I just read he is one of the maintainers of GCC's implementation of the C++. That looks like lot of work! He was one of typical *NIX guys. I mean, you shouldn't go to them without trying to fix the problem first. Maybe, that is something Unix preaches. And if you expect to be fed with a spoon, you are an item of fun for them.Although my interaction with him was rare, it inspires some kind of "I should get there!" feeling when I know that I worked with a man whom the google knows, too. But, the gust doesn't last longer coz I quit very early.. :(--bye

flopped weekend plan!
He gets off on Sunday, and unlike me, he wants to hangout somewhere, or watch a movie during w/e. I also watch movies over the w/e, but only on internet, free of cost :) For the last month or so, we are either visiting some place, or watching a movie at a theater during w/e. These plans are worked out so quick that we just decide to go somewhere, and we are out of home.
This happened the last weekend also. At 7 PM, I thought we should go and watch Telugu movie, "Gabbar Singh". The movie met its expectations of being a good one, and Pavan Kalyan, the hero of the movie back in action. He is rejuvenated after a series of flops. I remembered seeing a flyer that Ganesh Theater at my place is running this movie, 4 shows a day. We started to the theater, and stood in the queue for tickets. To enter the theater, there was much bigger queue, and people started rushing in after a short while. We got into the theater, and 5 minutes later than the scheduled time, the show started. I was waiting to see how the movie would start, and to my surprise, with dashing sound, it projected "Daruvu". It is yet another new theater release, starring Raviteja, the Mass Maharaj, and we were stupefied, and thought we fooled ourselves. But, I was still confident that this was just a trailer ad, and I told my friend to relax. Gosh, it wasn't just a trailer, but they indeed were playing "Daruvu" :( and we inevitably watched the full movie till the end as we payed for it. This movie, "Daruvu" is kinda mix of a few good old movies, and a latest one. I didn't like it much may be because I came to watch some other movie and my expectations were shattered.
The irony was, we stood in the queue for almost 10 minutes, and before the movie started, we had 5 minutes, and never did we get a single clue that the movie being played is not "Gabbar Singh" :(

ah, I can't recollect that!
This happened with me today when I tried to search google for an image, actually an animated GIF, where the python(python) comes crawling, and kicks the camel(perl) out of the web page. It's very funny to watch. I tried google search this image with all possible search terms I could, but in vain.
While it left me in helpless situation, when I find time again, I will try searching for this image, and post it here if I find it. I'm sure you will find it funny, too.
